Ballyskenagh's Division 3 hurling league campaign failed to get off to a winning start by the narrowest of margins at home to Killeigh on the 29th March.
Ollie Ryan opened the scores with a point after two mins and Killeigh quickly replied. However two quick goals from Emmet Middleton in the tenth minute gave Skenagh a cushion of 2-1 to 0-1. Killeigh scored 1-1 (point from a free) before an Enda Harte point put the scores at 2-2 to 1-2. With fifteen minutes gone on the clock, Padraic Kennedy fired one home from close range to bring Skenagh's total to 3-2. However, this was to be Skenagh's last score of the half, while Killeigh added four points (one free) to their total to put the half time score at 3-2 to 1-6 in Skenagh's favour.
The second half opened with a Killeigh free, followed by an Ollie Ryan point from a free. Another Killeigh free again reduced the margin to the minimum but Skenagh regained a three point margin courtesy of Emmet Middleton and Ollie Ryan (free). Killeigh pointed another free, followed by a similar score from Ollie Ryan to put the scores at 3-6 to 1-9 with ten minutes gone in the half. Unfortunately, though they battled hard, this was Skenagh's last score of the game while Killeigh tagged on three points to put the sides all square with about five minutes remaining. A tense battle ensued for the closing minutes, but a free on full time ensured victory for the visitors. Final score 3-6 to 1-13.
