2008 leinster Club Junior Hurling Championship Quarter Final

Ballyskenagh 2-11 ....... Knockbridge (Louth) 1-09

Ballyskenagh made it through to the semi finals of the Leinster Junior Hurling Championship with a hard earned 2-11 to 1-09 victory over Knockbridge of Louth in Shinrone on Sunday 2nd November.

A Knockbridge point from a free opened the scores inside of two minutes but Shane Kirwan quickly squared things up with fine point from well out the field. A second pointed free gave the Louth men the edge again but then Tadhg Maher collected from John Dooley and gave the goalie no chance to put the scores at 1-01 to 0-02 in Skenagh's favour with just four minutes gone on the clock. Knockbridge pointed again, then Derek Middleton and Tadhg Maher raised white flags for Skenagh before Knockbridge's fourth point put the scores at 1-03 to 0-04 at the midway point of the half. Shane Carroll edged Skenagh further in front in the 24th minute and an Aidan Franks free a minute later put the score at 1-05 to 0-04. Knockbridge scored two points without reply to bring the margin back to just two but a purple patch for Tadhg Maher saw him drive home 1-1 in injury time to put the half time score at 2-06 to 0-6 in Skenagh's favour.

Derek Middleton drew first blood for Skenagh thirty seconds after the restart, with Knockbridge taking the next two points, 2-07 to 0-08. Timmy Hennessy and Aidan Franks ('65) stretched the lead to seven points but Knockbridge got through for a goal in the tenth minute to haul the margin back to four. Aidan Franks pointed a '65 before two separate incidents saw three players make early exits, two from Knockbridge and Ballyskenagh's Derek Middleton. Knockbridge scored what was to be their last point in the 28th minute with Aidan Franks getting Skenagh's last score from an injury time free to leave the final score 2-11 to 1-09.
