Ballyskenagh 2-12 ...... Killavilla 0-12

Ballyskenagh overcame neighbours Killavilla in the final group game of the 2008 championship to claim top slot on the group table in Shinrone on 14th August. Skenagh got off to a great start in the third minute when Alan Franks blasted a 21 yard free past the Killavilla keeper. Killavilla opened their tally with a pointed free before Shane Carroll collected from Morgan Lalor and duly slotted it over the bar. Mark Kirwan made it 1-2 with a long range point and Killavilla pointed again in the 8th minute to put the score at 1-2 to 0-2. Two points from Aidan Franks ('65 and a free) were followed by a Morgan Lalor free, to open up a six point lead for Skenagh. Killavilla scored their third point in the 18th minute but Morgan Lalor restored the six point margin before John Dooley made it seven. With five minutes remaining in the half Killavilla pointed a free before Alan Franks came up the field to take another free just on the half way mark. This time the shot went over the bar, to leave the half time score 1-8 to 0-4 in Skenagh's favaour.

Killavilla came out with all guns blazing for the second half and slotted over two points before a scramble in the Killavilla goalmouth eventually saw the green flag being raised. Two Killavilla frees put the score at 0-8 to 2-8 before a Timmy Hennessy point in the 12th minute. Killavilla again pointed a free before Morgan Lalor slotted another over the bar. In the 20th minute another Killavilla free put the score at 2-10 to 0-10. Timmy Hennessy again extended the lead to seven but two points from Killavilla (one 65) reduced it again to five points. A tense closing five minutes saw both sides battle hard but a Derek Middleton point just before the final whistle left the final score 2-12 to 0-12.
