Ballyskenagh 3-16 ...... Kilcormac/Killoughey 1-09
Ballyskenagh's winning run in the Division 2 hurling league continued with a home win over Kilcormac/Killoughey on Friday 30th May. Playing uphill, Skenagh could have had two goals bagged inside the first two minutes but it was third time lucky as John Dooley kicked home the first score of the game in the 4th minute. Tadhg Maher and Morgan Lalor pointed to give Skenagh a 1-2 lead before KK's first point came from a placed ball. A Kilcormac/Killoughey goal in the tenth minute brought the margin back to the minimum, but points from Morgan Lalor, Timmy Hennessy, John Dooley and Timmy Hennessy again put five points between the sides. KK brought it back to four before Hennessy restored the five point margin once more. Two points from KK (one free) left a three point margin with five minutes remaining in the half. Aidan Franks pointed for Skenagh and KK scored the last point of the half to put the half time score at 1-8 to 1-5 in Skenagh's favour.
Less than two minutes after the restart, a Morgan Lalor shot from well out the field decieved the KK goalie and ended up in the back of the net. Lalor (from a free) and Tadhg Maher then scored points before a KK free put the score at 2-10 to 1-6. Mark Kirwan, Aidan Franks ('65) and Tadhg Maher raised white flags before John Dooley's second goal opened up a 3-13 to 1-6 gap at the mid-way point. KK pointed, followed by a Gavin Hannon point, then the visitors pointed again before Tadhg Maher scored his fourth point of the game. A KK free in the 28th minute was their last score of the game, while Tadhg Maher concluded the scoring with another point in the closing minute to leave the final score at 3-16 to 1-09.
