Ballyskenagh 1-16 ...... Kinnitty 1-09
Ballyskenagh made it two wins out of two in the Division 2 hurling league when they travelled to Kinnitty on Sunday 6th April to take on the home side.
A great start saw Eugie Hannon raise the green flag inside the first minute while a Kinnitty free four minutes later opened the scores for the home side. Aidan Franks, Ciarán Kirwan and Morgan Lalor (free) added three for Skenagh before Kinnitty pointed again in the 10th minute. Eugie Hannon and Timmy Hennessy pointed before two points from Kinnitty (one free) put the score at 1-5 to 0-4 in the 17th minute. Hennessy pointed again and a Morgan Lalor free had the score at 1-7 to 0-4 with nine minutes left in the half. Kinnitty piled on the pressure and pointed a ’65 before getting through for a somewhat fortuitous goal to bring the margin back to just two points with five minutes to go to the break. Morgan Lalor duly pointed a free but Kinnitty scored twice (one free) before Eugie Hannon scored from play and Aidan Franks added another from a free, to give Skenagh a 1-10 to 1-07 lead at the interval.
After the restart, Morgan Lalor pointed a free in the first minute, but this was quickly followed by a Kinnitty score to restore the three point gap. Timmy Hennessy pointed from play before another Lalor free put the score at 1-13 to 1-08 with 8 minutes gone on the clock. Two minutes later Kinnitty scored what was to be their last point despite piling on the pressure for the remainder of the game, while Eugie Hannon added a brace of points and Timmy Hennessy scored his fourth point of the game to leave the final score at 1-16 to 1-09 in Skenagh’s favour.
