Ballyskenagh 4-04 ...... Shamrocks 0-07
Ballyskenagh's Division 2 league campaign got off to an encouraging start with maximum points gained at the expense of Shamrocks in a home game on Saturday 15th March. Playing in atrocious conditions, Skenagh got off to a great start inside two minutes when an Aidan Franks free from well out the field made its way into the top corner of the Shamrock's net. Two points from Shamrocks (one from a free) were interjected by a point from Derek Middleton before Ronan Middleton got through for a goal in the 12th minute to give Skenagh a 2-01 to 0-02 lead. Ronan again added a point in the 21st minute, with Shamrocks pointing a free soon after to put the half time score at 2-02 to 0-03 in Skenagh's favour.
Two Shamrocks frees within five minutes of the re-start had the margin down to three points when Ciarán Kirwan scored Skenagh's third goal to widen the gap back to six. Shamrocks pointed again before Alan Franks came up from the goal to take a Skenagh free and blasted it home to give Skenagh a comfortable eight point lead at the mid point of the half. A Shamrocks free in the 22nd minute was to be their last score of the game, while Morgan Lalor (free) and Eugene Hannon raised the white flag to put the final score at 4-04 to 0-07.
