2007 O'Connor Cup Semi-Final

Kinnitty 4-12 ...... Ballyskenagh 2-10

Ballyskenagh travelled to Kinnitty on Sunday 1st July to take on the home side in the semi-final of the O'Connor Cup.

Kinnitty took a two point lead before Derek Middleton opened Skenagh's account in the sixth minute. Kinnitty dominated for a period scoring 2-3 before Skenagh raised the white flag again with a Morgan Lalor free in the 19th minute. Kinnitty missed a great chance for a third goal but went on to add a further 1-2 without reply. Timmy Hennessy pointed and then with four minutes left in the half Hennessy again got through for a goal to put the score at 1-3 to 3-7. However Kinnitty got through for their fourth goal just before the break to put the half time tallies at 4-7 to 1-3.

A much improved Ballyskenagh got off to a good start in the second half when Emmet Middleton capitalised on a save from a Timmy Hennessy shot to raise the green flag inside the first minute. Less than a minute later Aidan Franks pointed a free to bring the gap back to nine at 2-4 to 4-7. Kinnitty scored the next three points before Derek Middleton sent a shot over the bar in the eighth minute. Kinnitty pointed again followed by an Aidan Franks point from a free. Another Kinnitty free in the eighteenth minute put them ahead by double scores 4-12 to 2-6. Alan Franks then stepped up to take a Skenagh free and sent a rasping shot just over the bar. The remaining three scores all came from Skenagh with a brace of points from Eugie Hannon, interrupted by one from Derek Middleton, but it was too little too late and Kinnitty ran out winners on a final scoreline of 4-12 to 2-10.
