Lusmagh 3-15 ...... Ballyskenagh 2-8
Ballyskenagh's opening game of the 2007 Junior B Championship game ended in defeat by the home side in Lusmagh on Tuesday 8th May. Skenagh were short a number of players and great credit is due to those who stood in at the last minute and gave it their all.
Lusmagh opened the scores and were two points to the good when Liam O'Toole fired over Skenagh's first point. Lusmagh raised the white flag again before Anthony Middleton got on the end of a Eugie Hannon free to rattle the net and give Skenagh a one point lead. Just over two minutes later, Middleton again found the back of the net to put Skenagh four up with ten minutes gone on the clock. Ollie Ryan pointed from play before Lusmagh replied with two points and then Ryan again pointed from a free. On the midway point a long range shot from Lusmagh took a deflection into the back of the net to reduce the margin to a single point and they equalised soon after with a free. Ollie Ryan pointed to put Skenagh's noses in front again but Lusmagh's second goal on the 21st minute saw them take a two point lead. Lusmagh went on to add three further points, interrupted by another Ollie Ryan score, to put the half time score at 2-9 to 2-5 in favour of Lusmagh.
Six minutes after the re-start Lusmagh's third goal stretched the gap to seven. Ollie Ryan and Lusmagh exchanged points before Liam O'Toole and Shane Carroll both pointed from frees to put the socre at 2-8 to 3-10 at the half way point. Skenagh battled hard for the remainder of the game, but ran out of steam somewhat and failed to register any further scores, while Lusmagh added five more points to put the final score at 3-15 to 2-8.
