Belmont 1-10 ...... Ballyskenagh 0-9
Ballyskenagh played hosts to Belmont on Wednesday 13th June in the Division 1 hurling league but failed to capitalise on home advantage when they lost by 1-10 to 0-9 after an erratic low-scoring game.
Emmet Middleton raised the white flag in the third minute to open the scores and Belmont equalised with a free in the 9th minute. Two points from Timmy Hennessy were followed by a Belmont score to put the totals at 0-3 to 0-2 mid way through the half. Shane Carroll increased the margin to two but Belmont pointed a free to bring it back to the minimum. Aidan Franks pointed a free in the 20th minute but Belmont replied seconds later with a point from play. Tadhg Maher restored the two point lead but Belmont again replied with a well taken point. Shane Carroll sent over another in the 24th minute and this was Skenagh's last score of the half, while Belmont scored two points from frees to put the sides level at half time at 0-7 apiece.
Three minutes into the second half Belmont goaled from a free to take a three point lead and in a low scoring half they went on to add three points, while Skenagh only managed to raise the white flag twice, courtesy of the Middleton brothers Ronan and Alan (both scores coming late into the half), to leave the final score at 1-10 to 0-9 in Belmont's favour.
