Kinnitty 1-15 ...... Ballyskenagh 4-11
Ballyskenagh's second game of the Division 1 league proved to be a very exciting encounter when they travelled to Kinnitty on Easter Sunday 8th of April.
Kinnitty opened the scores and were ahead by five points to one after just seven minutes. Skenagh knuckled down to the task on hand and had the gap back to the minimum with six minutes to go in the half. Tadgh Maher then beat the Kinnitty goalie to give Skenagh at 1-5 to 0-6 lead. Derek Middleton and Noel Murphy added two further points to put the half time score 1-8 to 0-6.
An Alan Middleton free soon after the restart stretched the gap to six but a Kinnitty goal in the third minute had it back to three. The sides exchanged points before Skenagh were awarded a penalty with nine minutes gone on the clock. Alan Franks came out of his goal to drive the ball to the back of the net. Points were again exchanged and approaching the mid point of the half the score was 2-11 to 1-8. However Kinnitty scored four unanswered points to put the gap at just two with eight minutes remaining. Timmy Hennessy burst through and his shot at goal was saved, but Tom O'Toole pounced on the rebound and gave the Kinnitty keeper no chance second time round. A Kinnitty free reduced the margin to four before a well taken goal from Ronan Middleton put Skenagh firmly back in the driving seat with a little over three minutes to go. Kinnitty added two further points before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 4-11 to 1-15 in favour of Ballyskenagh.
