2007 Div 4 Hurling League Round 3

Killavilla 5-21 ...... Ballyskenagh 4-4

Despite home advantage, Ballyskenagh went down badly to neighbouring Killavilla on Friday 8th June in the Division 4 hurling league.

In an entertaining first half Killavilla opened their tally inside the first minute and had registered 1-4 by the sixth minute when Shane Carroll opened Skenagh's account with a point. Killavilla pointed again before Tom O'Toole sent a free to the back of the net to reduce the margin to four at 1-5 to 1-1. Killavilla increased the margin to five before O'Toole again got through to raise the green flag with just over ten minutes to go to the half time whistle. Killavilla had scored 1-2 without reply when Emmet Middleton scored a great point. Killavilla then replied with a point before Tom O'Toole stepped up to take a free and claimed a hat-trick when yet again he sent it past the Killavilla keeper with five minutes to go in the half. Killavilla then pointed a free to put the half time score at 3-2 to 2-10.

The second half proved to be mostly one way traffic with Killavilla in a commanding position with a 4-17 to 3-2 lead mid-way through the half. With seventeen minutes gone on the clock, Skenagh finally registered a score courtesy of an Ollie Ryan point and a minute later Ryan increased Skenagh's score to 4-3 with a well taken goal. Killavilla powered on to score a further 1-3 before Emmet Middleton raised the white flag for Skenagh. The last score of the half fell to Killavilla to put the score at 5-21 to 4-4 in favour of the visitors.
