Ballyskenagh 2-9 ...... Belmont 1-18
Ballyskenagh's Division 4 league campaign got off to a bad start with a home defeat by Belmont on the 12th of April.
An evenly contested first quarter saw the sides level at four points each mid way through the half. However Belmont scored an unanswered 1-4 to give them a 1-8 to 0-4 advantage with a minute to go to the break. Two points from John Dooley (one free) in the closing minute put the half time score at 1-8 to 0-6.
After the restart Belmont added two points to their total but a John Dooley goal from a free in the 16th minute reduced the gap to four. Belmont upped the ante and scored three further points before Tom O'Toole and John Dooley scored for Skenagh to put the score at 1-13 to 1-8. With less than four minutes remaining Belmont had stretched their lead to eight points when John Kirwan got onto the end of a John Dooley free to send the ball to the back of the net. Ronan Middleton quickly pointed but time was running out and this proved to be Skenagh's last score of the game, while Belmont tagged on two more points to put the final score at 1-18 to 2-9.
