Ballyskenagh 2-14 ....... Clara 0-02
Ballyskenagh maintained their senior status for 2007 with a comprehensive victory over Clara in Kinnitty on Sunday morning 5th November.
Mick O'Hara opened the scores for Skenagh with a '65 in the second minute and added another four minutes later when an Eoghan Franks shot on goal was deflected over the line. Eoghan pointed two frees in the 11th and 16th minutes and Brendan Murphy widened the gap to five with a point soon after. Clara were unlucky on a few occasions and finally raised the white flag in the 20th minute. By the 26th minute points from Eoghan Franks and Tadhg Maher had Skenagh in the driving seat at seven points to one. Deep into his own half Brendan Murphy collected a high ball and duly drove it in to David Carney in the opposite corner. Carney made a run goalwards before kicking the ball hard into the roof of the net, giving the Clara keeper no chance. Noel Murphy added another point before the break to give Skenagh a 1-08 to 0-01 half time advantage.
Brendan Murphy opened the second half account inside a minute and Clara replied just a few minutes later with what was to be their only score of the half. Skenagh had a number of wides before Noel Murphy hit the target in the 14th minute to put the score at 1-10 to 0-2. Soon after his introduction to the game, Bill Lalor scored a great point from centre forward and Tom O'Toole put the matter beyond doubt with a goal in the 23rd minute, having taken a pass from Noel Murphy. Three further points came from Timmy Hennessy, Brendan Murphy and Barry Keeshan before the final whistle, to leave a relieved Ballyskenagh winners on a scoreline of 2-14 to 0-02.
