Tullamore 0-16 ...... Ballyskenagh 1-8
Ballyskenagh's second game of the senior hurling championship against Tullamore in Birr on Sunday 23rd of July ended with Tullamore as victors on a scoreline of 0-16 to 1-8. With Tullamore fighting to keep their championship hopes alive, a tough game was anticipated, but nonetheless it was a very disappointing performance from Skenagh.
Playing against the breeze, Skenagh were first to score with a Noel Murphy point in the 8th minute, with Tullamore equalising less than a minute later. Mick O'Hara raised the white flag twice (one '65, one free) before Aidan Franks pointed in the 19th minute to give Skenagh a 0-4 to 0-1 lead. Tullamore added another before Brendan Murphy scored what was to be Ballyskenagh's last score of the half in the 21st minute. Tullamore went on to raise the white flag no less than five times (once from a sideline) to give them a two point edge at half time 0-7 to 0-5.
Tullamore increased their lead to three inside 30 seconds of the restart, but just a minute later Ciaran Kirwan found the back of the net to leave the sides all square at 1-5 to 0-8. The next four points came from Tullamore and it was the 17th minute before David Carney raised the white flag to bring the margin back to three. Tullamore pointed again less than a minute later before Brendan Murphy pointed a free in the 20th minute to put the gap again at three points at 1-7 to 0-13. However Tullamore added three more (one from a free) to take a six point lead. Ballyskenagh's final score was a Padraic Kennedy point in the 30th minute, which left Tullamroe deserving winners on a final scoreline of 0-16 to 1-8.
