Kinnitty 1-14 ...... Ballyskenagh 4-2
For the second year in a row, Ballyskenagh made their exit from the Junior Championship at the hands of Kinnitty in a disappointing final game of the group stages in Kinnitty on the 21st of July. Kinnitty opened the scores and were two points up (one from a free) before Padraic Kennedy raised the white flag for Skenagh in the 17th minute. Kinnitty added another point before Anthony Middleton raised the green flag to give Skenagh a one point lead. Kinnitty soon equalised but an Olly Ryan goal in the 25th minute put Skenagh back in the driving seat with a three point lead. A Kinnitty free brought the gap back to two before Philip Shanahan found the back of the net in the 29th minute to give Skenagh a 3-1 to 0-5 lead going into the break.
Kinnitty scored first in the second half, with a point in the second minute and added two more without reply before an Aidan Franks free midway through the half put the score at 3-2 to 0-8. When Ciaran Kirwan goaled a minute later, the gap was six points and a Skenagh victory was looking more than possible. But Kinnitty were having none of it and had it back to 3 with a goal less than a minute later. Kinnitty went on to score three points from play to draw level in the 26th minute and took the lead with a '65 with just three minutes remaining. Skenagh battled hard, but failed to increase their tally, while Kinnitty added two more points from frees, to run out deserving winners on a final scoreline of 1-14 to 4-2.
