Ballyskenagh 3-15 ...... Seir Kieran 6-8
Despite scoring a fairly impressive 3-15, Ballyskenagh went under by two points to Seir Kieran in the junior league in Ballyskenagh on Tuesday 20th June
John Dooley opened the scoring inside the first minute and Seir Kieran quickly replied. Anthony Middleton pointed soon afterwards and when the same player raised the green flag a few minutes later, Skenagh were 1-2 to 0-1 ahead. In the 11th minute a long shot from Morgan Lalor looked like it would scrape over the crossbar but instead it dipped just under the bar for Skenagh's second goal. Skenagh were now 2-3 to 0-1 ahead but Seir Kieran were unfazed and less than a minute later had the gap back to 2-3 to 1-1 with a well taken goal. Five minutes later the gap was down to just two as Seir Kieran drove another goal home. Three points from John Dooley, Morgan Lalor andAnthony Middleton had Skenagh five in front before a Billy Dooley goal reduced it to two again, with nine minutes remaining in the half. Daryl Carney (from a free) and Billy Dooley exchanged points and then it was John Dooley's turn to exchange scores with his namesake. Ciaran Kirwan then raised the white flag to give Skenagh a 2-9 to 3-3 advantage at half time.
Playing down the hill, two quick points from the Clareen men inside the first minute had the gap down to the minimum, but points from John Dooley (free), Ronan Middleton and Morgan Lalor had Skenagh back in the driving seat by the fourth minute. This didn't last long however as a goal and a point from Seir Kieran had them level in the 8th minute and when they drove home their fifth goal mid way through the half, they went three points up. Derek Middleton and John Dooley (free) had the deficit back to the minimum with twelve minutes remaining. Seir Kieran were not finished raising the green flag yet however and their sixth goal in the 24th minute opened up a four point advantage. Two minutes later Ronan Middleton scored Skenagh's third goal and the gap was back to one again. Two valuable Seir Kieran points gave them the edge again and Morgan Lalor's point in the last minute was as close as Skenagh could get. Final score Ballyskenagh 3-15, Seir Kieran 6-8
