Shamrocks 0-18 ...... Ballyskenagh 2-09
Ballyskenagh's Div 2A league aspirations were dealt a further blow when they were well beaten by Shamrocks in a very disappointing performance in Rahan on Thursday 1st June.
Played in near perfect conditions, Shamrocks opened the scores with a point but a goal from Tadhg Maher in the fifth minute gave Skenagh the upperhand. Shamrocks were undeterred by this and scored the next four points without reply to give them a 0-05 to 1-0 lead by the 10th minute. Skenagh drew level courtesy of Morgan Lalor and Daryl Carney points and in the 19th minute Morgan Lalor lobbed the goalie with a free and the ball found its way into the back of the net. Two quick points from Shamrocks brought the gap back to the minimum again, but Derek Middleton and Barry Keeshan (free) stretched Skenagh's lead back to three. Shamrocks were scoring some great points and added two more to put the score at 2-04 to 0-09 in the 28th minute. Derek Middleton and Morgan Lalor (free) scored Skenagh's remaining points of the half, while Shamrocks added another in injury time to leave the half time score 2-06 to 0-10 in favour of Ballyskenagh.
In the 11th minute of the second half, Shamrocks took the lead, having scored three points without a response from Ballyskenagh. A Morgan Lalor free squared things up again, but by the 21st minute Shamrocks again had a two point lead. Derek Middleton brought it back to one, but Shamrocks quickly responded again. In the 26th minute Tadhg Maher again brought the gap back to one, but it was to be Skenagh's last score of the game while Shamrocks added two more to win by 0-18 to 2-9.
