Belmont 0-16 ...... Ballyskenagh 2-11
Ballyskenagh made it three wins out of three in the Division 2 hurling league when they defeated Belmont in a very even game in Moystown on Saturday 15th April.
Skenagh got off to the better start and a David Carney goal in the 8th minute saw them take a 1-02 to no score advantage. By the 15th minute Belmont had pulled back two points before Eoghan Franks found David Carney who went on a run before rattling the back of the net with a great shot that left the goalie with little chance. Belmont dominated the scoring for the next five minutes, scoring four points without reply, to put the score at 2-2 to 0-6. In the 21st minute, an on-form Carney scored a brilliant point from near the corner flag and this was soon followed by two Morgan Lalor frees to give 'Skenagh a 2-5 to 0-6 advantage. However, Belmont added three points to their total to bring the gap back to two, before another Morgan Lalor free put the half time score at 2-6 to 0-09
Ballyskenagh kept their noses in front in the second half, until Belmont drew level in the 18th minute. A Phil Shanahan point restored the advantage to Skenagh, but Belmont again drew level and then took the lead for the first time in the game in the 23rd minute. John Dooley equalised in the 25th minute and a Morgan Lalor free regained Skenagh's advantage with just four minutes remaining. This was to be the last score of the game and Skenagh held out for a win by 2-11 to 0-16.
