Brosna Gaels 3-14 ....... Ballyskenagh 1-16
After a long wait for the Division 4 semi-final, Ballyskenagh's unbeaten run finally came to an end in an exciting contest which went all the way to extra time.
A strong first half performance by Brosna Gaels saw them hold a 1-6 to 1-3 half time lead over an unsettled 'Skenagh side.
An improved second half performance saw Skenagh behind by just a point with ten minutes left on the clock - but a Brosna Gaels goal put them back in the driving seat with a four point advantage. Ballyskenagh dug deep and points courtesy of Aidan Franks, Alan Franks and two from Derek Middleton brought it all back to all square with time almost up. A Brosna Gaels point from a '65 just on full time looked to have sealed victory for them, but a determined Timmy Hennessy made a great run up the field from deep in his own half and slotted it over to level the game in injury time at 1-12 to 2-9.
Ballyskenagh dominated the first period of extra time and added three points to their total, while Brosna Gaels remained scoreless.
A goal and two points inside the first three minutes of the second half tipped the scales in favour of Brosna Gaels. Underdogs star Alan Franks pointed from a free to pull the margin back to the minimum, but it was to be Skenagh's last score, as Brosna Gaels could do no wrong in the dying moments and added a further four points to emerge winners on a final scoreline of 3-14 to 1-16.
There was some disappointment among players and supporters when news was received of a late change of venue to Ballycumber, a home venue for Brosna Gaels. However, this does not take from a fine display by the Brosna Gaels side, who ulimately deserved their win.
