2004 Division 4

Round 3

Ballyskenagh 4-7 ……. Raheen 4-4

Ballyskenagh escaped with a narrow victory when they played Raheen in Geashill on the 10th June. Twenty minutes into the game a Padraig Kennedy goal put ‘Skenagh in the driving seat at 2-3 to 1-0 and the gap had widened to 2-6 to 1-0 before Raheen found the back of the net just before half time, to leave the interval score at 2-6 to 2-0.

Mid way through the second half, a Raheen goal brought the margin back to just two points, 3-7 to 4-2 and over the next five minutes they added two more (one from a free) to level the game. While ‘Skenagh had a lot of the play, they struggled to make good use of it until a well-taken Anthony Middleton goal in the 22nd minute restored a three point lead. Both sides battled hard for the remaining minutes, but neither managed to register another score, leaving ‘Skenagh winners at 4-7 to 4-4.
