Ballyskenach 1-8 ...... Kilcormac/Killoughey 1-9
Ballyskenach suffered a defeat by a single point in their second last game of the Division 1 league at home to Kilcormac/Killoughey on the 4th July.
In the opening half, there was very little between the sides, who were level on three occasions. Then, just before the break, a goal from Eoghan Franks widened 'Skenach's lead by 1-6 to 0-4.
KK got down to business immediately on the re-start and rattled the 'Skenach net in the first minute. A ding dong battle ensued for the remainder of the game and mid-way through the half 'Skenach held the advantage at 1-7 to 1-6. With ten minutes to go, 'Skenach added another point, but it was to be their last score of the game. Kilcormac/Killoughey had added three points, to give them a narrow lead at 1-9 to 1-8, when 'Skenach were awarded a free in front of the goal. Believing the margin to be four points, Eoghan Franks dropped the ball in, but it was cleared, to give Kilcormac victory by a single point. (All allegations that David Franks had mis-informed his brother regarding the scoreline have been strenuously denied of course and are completely without foundation!!)
