Ballyskenagh 3-7 ....... Killeigh/Raheen 1-5
Ballyskenagh junior hurlers emerged victorious from their final group game in the Div. 4 League, when they defeated Killeigh/Raheen on Saturday evening 18th August in Killeigh.
Ballyskenagh started well, with their first score a Jimmy Whyte goal after six minutes. Thanks to points from Anthony Middleton and Kenny Franks (twice), they were 1-4 to 0-1 ahead mid way through the first half. Killeigh/Raheen then scored a fortuitous goal from a ’65 and added two further points before the half time break, with Timmy Hennessy adding a point for ‘Skenagh, to leave the half time score 1-4 to 1-3.
Six minutes after the resumption, a Killeigh/Raheen free levelled the scores. Points from Padraig Kennedy and Kenny Franks (from a free) opened the gap again before Killeigh/Raheen scored what was to be their last point of the game, from a free in the 15th minute. Ronan Middleton pointed before Jimmy Whyte struck again with his second goal of the game and substitute Enda Harte added a third goal in the closing minutes.
This was a good team performance, with Olly Ryan leading by example from centre-back.
