Ballyskenagh qualified for the semi-final of the Junior B Hurling Championship when they defeated Lusmagh in Shinrone on Saturday 10th August in a close and exciting contest. A Kenny Franks point opened the scoring for Ballyskenagh after five minutes, but Lusmagh took the lead with a goal ten minutes later. Points from Ciaran Kirwan and Kenny Franks levelled the scores with five minutes to go to the break. Lusmagh scored a point from a free and Kenny Franks quickly replied, to leave the half time score level at 0-4 to 1-1.
Kenny Franks pointed almost immediately on the resumption of the game and scored another two points (one from a free) before Lusmagh pointed to bring the score to 0-7 to 1-2. Joey Murphy added a point for Skenagh before Lusmagh added two further points (one from a free). Kenny Franks twice, Anthony Middleton, Kenny Franks again from a free and Jimmy Whyte added points to widen the gap to six points. A Lusmagh goal with five minutes remaining reduced the gap to three and a nailbiting finish ensued, with Skenagh holding firm and emerging winners on a final scoreline of 0-13 to 2-4.
