League Defeat by Coolderry

Coolderry 1-18 .......Ballyskenach 3-7

In the Senior Hurling League last Wednesday night, Ballyskenach were beaten on a score line of 1-18 to 3-7. Despite the defeat, hopefully this marks a turning point for Ballyskenach.

The team played very well and matched Cooldeery for 50 minutes of the game. The superior fitness of Coolderry eventually turned the game in their favour.

After recent bad results this game was a vast improvement and hope fully will restore confidence in the team. All the players played with a commitment and pride that had been lacking in previous games.

Michael O'Hara making his senior debut in goal, dealt capably with anything came his way Keith Russell with Ger Mullally and Mike Ryan alongside him made a very solid full back line. The half back line of Liam O'Toole, Eugene Kirwan and Mark Kirwan and the mid field of Ollie Ryan and Bill Lalor ran themselves to a standstill.

Tom O'Toole in his new role at centre forward, combined well with John Dooley and David Franks making his outfield Senior debut had an excellent game. Kevin Franks at full forward scored 3-1 and demonstrated how lethal he is given the correct supply of ball. He was ably asissted by John Kirwan and Willie Smyth.
