Junior Cup Win

Ballyskenach 2-3 ....... St. Rynagh's 1-5

Ballyskenach Junior footballers travelled to Cloghan on Sunday last to play St. Rynagh's in their first game in the Junior Cup. Ballyskenach went into the game not knowing how strong they were but they shocked St. Rynagh's by coming from seven points down at half time to hold the home side scoreless in the second half and win by a point, 2-3 to 1-5.

St. Rynagh's had most of the play early in the game and moved the ball about well, causing problems for the Ballyskenach defence and it wasn't long before they got their first goal. Ballyskenach tried hard to get into the game but were beaten to the ball every time. The home side got a better grip on the game and scored five points to a single reply from Ballyskenach and went in leading by 1-5 to 0-1 at half time.

Ballyskenach started to move the ball around much better in the second half and the full back line of Pat Caroll, C. Lalor and P.J. McLoughlin were playing well with Seamus Dennison, at centre half back, having his best game to date.

Ballyskenach pulled two points back before scoring their first goal to get right back in the game. St. Rynagh's began to get frustrated but Ballyskenach withstood it all and grabbed another goal to win by 2-3 to 1-5.

Team: J. Bolger, C. Lalor, PJ. McLoughlin, P. Carroll, D. Ormond, S. Dennison, G. Tuohy, J. Feehan, O. Ryan, M. Flynn, J. Kirwan, P. Ormond, C. Dooley, J. Middleton, Jim Middleton. Training next Sunday is at 11 a.m.
